This post is a little different. This time I wanted to mention some Australian TV series I personally have really enjoyed. I like watching Australian TV, and I think it can be a good way to get used to our accent and learn a little more about our culture and sense of humour.
FREE using an Australian streaming app
Utopia - ABC iview - This is a humorous, tongue-in-cheek look at working for the Australian government.
True Colours - SBS on demand - An interesting show set in an Aboriginal community in outback Australia.
Fisk - ABC iview - A comedy about a lawyer.
Offspring - 10play - This show is a little older, but that means there are lots of seasons to watch. A light Australian drama.
The Creamerie - SBS on Demand - Ok, so this one is actually Kiwi. But even though it’s from New Zealand, I thought I would mention it anyway. It’s pretty crazy but also an easy watch.
PAID - using a streaming service
Rake - Netflix - This is probably my favourite show. Make sure you watch the Australian one, as there is also an American spin-off.
No Activity - Stan - Comedy. Make sure you watch the Australian one, as there is also an American spin-off.
Glitch - Netflix - This one is a mix of drama and sci-fi.
Mr Inbetween - Binge - This one is very violent, but also very Aussie! My dad often says that Australians say "scarn" when they greet each other, like "what’s going on?". This is definitely what the main character says in this show.
Deadloch - Prime - This one is a bit crazy and also has violence. It showcases Australian humour, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Bump - Stan - This is an easy watch. It is not violent.
Let me know if you have watched and enjoyed any of these shows.
